They are much above an average sales guy. An average sales person keeps struggling to earn his salary. While the sales superstars not only earn their salary but also earn huge commissions. They make fortunes by closing more and more sales and earning huge commissions. So do you wonder- What makes them different? What makes them SUPERSTAR?
So as sales trainer, I have been running my sales training Company for long and based on my experience I can share the following attributes of these sales superstars. For ease of remembering, I have arranged these attributes in the form of 8 “Cs”, and here they go!
Let’s talk about them one by one-
1. Clarity: The sales superstars are passionate about what they are doing. Most of the sales people are selling because they could not get any other job. They are in this profession by some accident. Most of the sales people do not like their job much. Then, how can they like doing what they are doing? How can they be passionate about their job? Whereas, the reality is that salespeople are the leaders of society. Because of salespeople, the wealth gets created and the life of a normal human being becomes better. So, there is every reason to get proud of being a salesperson.
Sales superstars are very clear as to- why they are in this profession. They know, that “profession is the best opportunity to contribute to the society and make good money”. Through sales profession they not only make their quality of life better but also help others to create wealth, which in turn provides better quality of life to the society in general.
2. Conviction: Sales superstars believe in their product and company very strongly! Whereas, an average sales person keeps maligning his company and product. They keep finding fault and making excuses for not being able to sell. They believe a complaining customer more than themselves and their company’s management. When the customer says that their product is not worth the price, “Your product is the costliest in market”, they immediately accept that and start offering a discount. But sales superstars have at different level of conviction about their quality, price and after sale service. They approach the customer with high level of confidence and position their product accordingly. They do not believe in selling by discount rather they sell by the quality of the product.
3. Courage: Sales superstars are optimistic, “possibility thinkers”. Do they have to listen to “No”? Do they get rejected? Yes, they also get rejected! And they also listen to “No”! But they are courageous and unafraid of rejection! They bounce back from every “no” and every rejection. They believe in their potential, set high goals, and then dedicate themselves for achieving them.
4. Commitment: Be passionate about what you do! The sales profession is one of the noblest professions in society. So, the sales superstars honor their commitment, they honour their words, they deliver what they commit to their customers. They are punctual about their meetings and appointments and they are highly committed to deliver results as per their commitments. The customers as well as management both are highly assured of their integrity.
5. Consistent: Sales superstars are consistent in their efforts. They know it very well, that small but consistent efforts over a long time are bound to give very high results! So they are persistent and don’t quit till until they succeed. Sales need lots of follow up. One has to do a consistent follow up. Sometimes, even years of follow up is needed to get an order. But, they do not give up until they get the order.
6. Competence: An average sales person is not much concerned about building his skill level. Whereas, a sales superstar, is a lifetime learner! They learn something new on daily basis. They get on the continuous education program. They do a self-review, evaluate themselves daily, weekly, and monthly and always keep building their skills.
7. Communication: persuasive communication is the secret for sales success. Sales superstars have persuasive skills. They are able to influence people due to their communication skills. They spend a lot of time in building their communication. Communication is not just about the words or language or English speaking; rather, it is about the body language and tonality. Sales superstars are aware of these facts and they keep working in this area consistently.
8. Creativity: Sales superstars know very well that all human beings are different. Therefore, when different customers are to be dealt with differently! Each customer has their individual moods and emotions. They are not always logical. Therefore dealing with people in different situations, is all about dealing with – high level of “creativity”.
In the end, let me summarize for you- If you want to be a Sales Superstar,
- You must have Clarity of your purpose; you must be sure that you want to make big success.
- You must have high level of Conviction on your product and company and yourself. You must know exactly why your product is best for customer. which is the best!
- You need to be Courageous! So no rejection can pull you down and you always come back stronger.
- You have to, without fail, keep your Integrity of your word and keeping your deadlines go a long way!
- Your efforts must be practiced with Consistent efforts can make the most difficult targets infallibly achievable for you.
- You must keep on upgrading your Competence, knowledge is like money a continuous flow of knowledge is essential to maintain your mental-economy which is your biggest power.
- Your Communication skills are to be impeccable. If you cannot convey your thoughts, your intentions, your plans and your knowledge clearly and easy to understand manner, all the effort is wasted!
- And finally it is all tied together by your Don’t be shy to exercise your brain, innovate and create new methods of approaching your customer.
