1. Set Tangible Goals: The first secret is to set tangible goals. It is important to be serious about the success. You need to decide that you want to achieve something big. Therefore, set tangible and stretched targets. If you have decided and set goals, then you are telling yourself that you want to reach to the top. You need to remember that it takes just as long to be great as it takes to be average and mediocre. The time is going to pass anyways. You need to decide that you are committing yourself to excellence. So, whatever you are doing you need to create excellence in that. And therefore, I am saying that the secret to success is to set measurable and stretched goals. When you set big goals, you communicate to the universe that you are deciding to move up the ladder.
2. Identify what skill is stopping you: You might be very skillful salesperson but even if you have only one weakness that is holding you back. As they say, the strength of the chain is equal to the strength of its weakest link. You must analyze what is the one skill pulling you down. You need to ask what one skill is that if I learn consistently and become excellent in that area, it will impact my sales results positively. Whatever is your answer to this question, write it down and set a timeline for yourself to improve in that area. And keep working on that skill till the time you master it. Finally, you will find that you have made significant improvement and it has already started helping you in producing great sales results. This one decision only can completely change your selling life.
3. Prospect continuously: Prospecting is the most important habit of any successful salesperson. You need to learn prospecting. You must find out ways to get new customers continuously. You cannot be lethargic on finding the new customers. For this you must continuously do networking. You must work on creating a continuous source of new prospect, like email marketing, social media marketing and all other methods which suit your business. Referrals from the existing customers can be a particularly good way of getting new prospects. Even existing customers are good opportunities for cross selling and upselling and you can continuously sell even new products to them. You need to find out multiple ways of finding new customers.
4. Physical health: Sales people must continuously work on their Physical health. Salespeople are busy people. But they must understand that being physically fit is important for achieving big dreams in life. Therefore, you should always manage their time effectively and always find time to do certain routine physical activities. You should eat right food, take sufficient rest and recreation. Decide that you are going to live a healthy active life till your 80th birthday.
5. Visualize success: Create an ambitious mental picture of success. Visualize yourself among the top salespeople in the world. Imagine yourself performing at the top level throughout the day. Feed your subconscious mind with a very vivid and clear picture of yours as positive, confident, and winning salesperson. If you visualize yourself as successful person, your subconscious mind will create that reality for you in your physical world. Remember everything is first created at the mental level and then it becomes the physical reality. Visualization will reprogram your mind and will produce the best-selling situations for you.
6. Take positive actions: All the salespeople are action oriented. They have a positive bias towards action. They do not procrastinate, and they believe in doing their work today rather than postponing it for tomorrow. Procrastination is the thief of time. They have “do it now” attitude. You move faster towards your goals by taking fast actions, it builds momentum and you keep completing your action plan with the help of this momentum. Therefore, if you really want to become successful start working on your goal achievement strategy and action plan today!
7. Positive self-talk: Anyone will be a successful as he thinks about himself. Your inner world controls your outer world. The inner world is influenced by your self-talk. So, create some positive affirmations. Read these affirmations with full emotions and sentiments. Repeat them again and again till the time they become your reality. Soon you will find that your world has started changing. Remember that your emotions are largely dependent on the way you talk to yourself. You can always keep yourself confident and create a positive image of yourself by consistently talking to yourself and giving yourself messages which are consistent to your successful image.
Friends, success is not the property of only a few people in the world! The successful people also have the same fears, inhibitions, challenges, and problems as the unsuccessful people. But the only difference is that successful salespeople do not quit, and they keep searching for a way out. And they finally get a way out which help them in achieving their goals.
