As a sales and business Growth Consultant and coach, I have found that lots of salespeople fail due to a lack of sales leads. This primarily happens due to the fact that they don’t have enough leads. They also do not have any system of generating new leads.

The first step in selling is prospecting. Prospecting is the stage where you find new leads to follow through and finally convert them into the deal. This is the step where you start the process of sales.

Lots of salespeople ignore prospecting due to different various reasons. Reasons are like they already have lots of leads and they have lots of accounts to handle. But no salesperson is big enough to ignore the prospecting. Prospecting is difficult. But there is no alternative to prospecting. You must find new customer every day.

Prospecting is not easy. You may fail in finding new customers again and again. But that is the way to succeed.

Most of the salespeople find it really challenging to get leads. So today I am going to share with simple 10 ways but effective ways of finding new customers

1.    Cold calling is a very old but effective way of finding the new leads. For cold calling you must learn the art of tele calling. You must learn how to speak over phone and learn best scripts for calling. For cold calling you must have relevant data base which you gradually develop and also purchase from reliable sources.

2.    Your existing customers: you existing customers can give you lots of leads through their contacts. But for this you need to be in touch with your existing customers and keep providing the best services.

3.    Industry associations: if you be part of industry association and keep attending their meeting time to time you can get lots of new leads. They are a good place to be find new customers. If you speak Infront on industry platform you can find good opportunity to meet lots of potential customers

4.    Lead marketing organizations: We have lots of organizations in our country to help you generate new leads. You can register yourself with organizations like trade India or India Mart etc to get new leads.

5.    Trade shows and exhibitions are also a particularly good place where you can get lots of new customers and leads. These exhibitions also publish a directory of their exhibitors and you can always find new leads through these directories.

6.    Networking platforms: There are lots of organizations like BNI, CII, Tie, e growth and so many others which provide good platform for businesspeople to meet. You can be part of them and keep meeting regularly. These platforms provide opportunities to meet new people and find out leads. These platforms also have their members directories and you can use them for out calling.

7.    Website Visitors: Your website can be an exceptionally good source of generating new leads. For this purpose, your website must have some good source of content which can be used effectively by the visitors. More and more numbers of people visiting your website will be able to offer you more leads.

8.    E-mail marketing: Email marketing is a particularly good way of generating new customer. You need to be consistent for the same. You can keep sending mail to your existing customers and new customers and visitors of you site then you will gradually start getting new leads.

9.    Social media: Face book and linked in and other social media platform shall be become good source of generating new customers.

10. Marketing ads – Google ad or radio or TV ads and so many other ways of advertising your
